The Ludmilla Creek Landcare Group was formed to manage threats and restore the catchment and to promote community education and involvement. The volunteers work together to maintain its natural values.
The Ludmilla Creek Landcare Group are a group of volunteers who are actively involved in maintaining and improving the remnant vegetation at Ludmilla Creek and improving its environmental and recreational values. This area is home to 160 species of birds and supports woodland, monsoon forest and mangrove vegetation communities.
Ludmilla Creek extends through much of urban Darwin, before it flows through the floodplains and mangroves of Ludmilla into Darwin Harbour. Much of the creek has been heavily impacted by urban development of the years, even attracting the name ‘Ludmilla Drain’. The group have been working to restore this important waterway and habitat corridor for future generations of Darwinites.
