Caring for the Territory, Season After Season

From keeping trails walkable and weeding native bushland, to supporting ecological research and visitor safety – Friends of Fogg Dam continue to demonstrate what community-led environmental care looks like in action.
Over the past few months alone, this dedicated group has:
- Maintained walking trails and visitor areas across the reserve
- Cleared debris, weeds, and fallen trees after the wet season
- Monitored lotus growth and support efforts to maintain open water habitat
- Contributed to a review of their constitution to streamline community support
And their commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed.

In January, FOFD was named on the National Landcare Legends Honour Roll, recognising their long-standing contribution to conservation in the NT. Chairperson Mary Marshall also received a 30-year service award – a testament to the care, consistency and leadership that underpins so much FOFD’s work.
As the water flows again, life returns – a powerful reminder of the bond between people and the places they care for.
Congratulations to Friends of Fogg Dam – and thank you for continuing to care for Country with such heart.
