Clean Up Australia Day 2025: Protecting the NT’s Environment, One Action at a Time

Clean Up Australia Day 2025: Protecting the NT’s Environment, One Action at a Time

For 35 years, Clean Up Australia Day (CUAD) has united over 22 million Australians in protecting their local environments. Millions of volunteers have worked together to remove waste, restore landscapes, and build stronger communities. In 2024 alone, CUAD volunteers collected 14,000 bags of litter nationwide, showing that small actions lead to big change.

Landcare NT and its member groups contribute to this legacy by leading community-driven clean-ups across the Northern Territory, tackling litter and restoring natural spaces that support NT’s unique biodiversity. Volunteers strengthen their communities while actively restoring NT’s unique landscapes, removing harmful waste, and keeping ecosystems healthy.

Landcare NT’s Impact in 2023-24

Last year, Landcare NT volunteers made incredible contributions to conservation and cleanup efforts:

  • 870 volunteers dedicated 12,445 hours to environmental action across the NT, equating to $705,000 in positive environmental impact.
  • Member groups hosted 342 working bees and 107 community events, including vital litter removal initiatives.
  • Landcare NT groups held 448 environmental events in 2023-24, averaging over 8 community-led events every week!
