Community Consultation For Casuarina

The Friends of Casuarina Coastal Reserve Landcare Group would like to draw everyone's attention to a couple of important Public Consultations that are impacting this Reserve.

Defence Housing Australia has lodged a request to rezone an area along Lee Point road opposite the Lee Point Caravan Park, and land between Muirhead and the Caravan Park, as a part of the next stage of the Breezes estate.

This will affect the conservation values of the Reserve

The EIS is now open for comment until February 2018.

Friends of Casuarina Coastal Reserve has prepared two documents for the previous EIS that was rejected due to inadequacies. These may help you in formulating your comments to this process. Submission 1  and Submission 2

The Landcare group is hoping to put together an updated response to this new EIS shortly. Please contact the group for more details, or if you would like to provide input.

Secondly, the Public Consultation Phase of the Casuarina Coastal Reserve Management Plan has opened.

The Casuarina Coastal Reserve Management Plan 2016 identifies the Reserve as being suitable for commercial activity if it is compatible with the Reserve's character and values.

The development of the Management Plan was informed by consultation with key stakeholders including the Casuarina Coastal Reserve Advisory Council and various community users and groups.

The consultation is running until Friday 15 December 2017
