Katherine Savanna Glider Project Joins Landcare NT

Protecting the Top End's Only Gliding Mammal
Landcare NT is pleased to welcome the Katherine Savanna Glider Project as our newest member group.
This initiative is dedicated to monitoring and protecting local populations of the Savanna Glider (Petaurus ariel) - the only gliding mammal found in the Top End.
Operating along the Katherine River and surrounding areas, the project addresses the growing threats of habitat loss, land clearing, and fire. To support this vulnerable species, the group is installing artificial nest boxes, providing an alternative habitat and enabling ongoing monitoring and conservation efforts.

With a commitment to habitat restoration and species protection, the Katherine Savanna Glider Project is making a meaningful impact in the region.
Landcare NT looks forward to supporting their work and sharing their conservation journey.
