NT Government Delivers Five-Year Funding Boost to Support Community Landcare

Landcare NT has welcomed a funding commitment from the Northern Territory Government to enable greater support of community landcare groups across the Northern Territory.
The announcement was delivered by the Hon. Joshua Burgoyne MLA, Minister for Lands, Planning and Environment, committing annual funding of $150,000 over five years to Landcare NT.
“Funding over a five-year period will deliver sustainable land and water management activities across the NT, with a major focus on the Barkly, Big Rivers and Central Australia regions,” said Minister Burgoyne.
“Landcare NT assists 25 community landcare groups, representing around 900 volunteers throughout the Territory to deliver real, on-the-ground programs to protect our environment such as weed and litter removal, native plant revegetation, fire mitigation control and erosion management.”
Landcare NT CEO Emily Raso welcomed the commitment, stating:
“Community landcare is critical in the NT to deliver on-ground programs to activities that address local environmental priorities."
“NT Government funding is vital to ensure Landcare NT has the resource stability to support, strengthen and mobilise community landcare volunteers across the NT.”

This funding represents a significant step to recognising and strengthening the incredible work of the Territory's Landcare movement.
