Red Centre – Rural Ladies Day 2024 Another Success!
Centralian Land Management Association (CLMA) with support from Landcare NT, held another successful annual Red Centre - Rural Ladies Day, bringing together the community to celebrate and recognise the contribution rural women make towards life on the land. This is the first of four collaborative CLMA / Landcare NT events being delivered under the Arid Lands Agricultural Community Connections Project, funded by the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal. These projects aim to support the Arid Lands region to be more prepared for, and resilient to, the impacts of drought by growing professional, social and community connections.
82 men and women from the local community and surrounding stations donned their finest suits and sparkly attire and headed to the Alice Springs Turf Club for a night of live music, dance performances by Dessert Diamonds and sharing stories. Guest speakers Stack & Mel from the Travel Guides television show gave an inspirational speech encouraging guests to ask questions and interact one on one with them. Guests had the opportunity to have their photo taken by a professional photographer in front of a colorful photo board to capture the night's memories. A variety of networking games helped people to connect, exchange ideas & memories, and create lasting friendships.
The night concluded with an awards ceremony for 3 local rural women in recognition of their contribution to life on the land and the community. Congratulations to Amber Driver, Donna Digby & Helen Kunze, this year's celebrated winners!
Event organiser, Danyelle Haigh commented, "I am extremely proud of this event, as it's the only event in our region that recognises and celebrates rural women held in conjunction with International Rural Women's Day. It was fantastic to see so many people networking and friendships made throughout the night from the interactive games & activities that they participated in and also when we encouraged everyone to get up & join in on the dancing."
The Rural Ladies Day provides an opportunity for pastoral and agricultural communities, local businesses, families, and visitors to the region to network and support one another. The event was again, a huge success, with new connections made, stories shared and the efforts of rural women acknowledged and celebrated.
