Workshop - Weaving With Weeds! (Darwin)

Lakeside Drive Community Garden are hosting an exciting series of workshops in the coming months. The workshops are free thanks to the City of Darwin’s Environment and Climate Change Grant.

Coming up on Sunday 2 March is a Weaving With Weeds workshop! 

Weave your own wild creations with renowned Darwin artist Aly de Groot. Join this immersive workshop and transform weeds and plants into beautiful, functional pieces.

Learn to:

• Identify and sustainably gather weaving materials from your garden
• Discover techniques for preparing them into plant fibres for basketry
• Learn the art of coil stitch weaving to create baskets, mats, and sculptural forms
• Experiment with different plant combinations, recycled materials, and weaving patterns to craft unique pieces.
